Minimal SMB Distribution

Allthough SMB ist installed in Home Versions, could anybody do a minimal linux distribution only containing the smb server?

For using the xbox as a file server there's no need for all the extras and X.

So would it be possible?

Hm, maybe I'am wrong but for me beeing a linux idiot I dont want to install the PRO version and do endless configuring.

The question was if anybody can do this and will make such a distro.
I think there is a demand for a simple smb server solution, easy to configure (if needed) and eating only little hd space, or even better bootable from CD.

Or is it possible to boot one of the gentoox distributions from cd and have the smb server enabled?

samba doesn't require much configuration,

and installation is just a matter of
emerge sync && emerge samba
