Can you not explain why we are getting gdm failed. For me nothing has changed. Same box same pc and same disk. The initial install runs ok. It's only when i run Magic that things are naff.
Whats the problem as the weak link seems to be Magic. Magic is good when it works.

gdm is failing because autoconf is out of date, you need to keep your box up to date if you expect stuff to work.
If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?

What you keep going on about Nobspangle.
I know your trying to help and a i gratefull for any post i recieve from you cos i know you know your stuff. Me, i'm just a low grade linux user who only uses gentoox for web browsing and other very basic stuff as i cannot seem to grasp the KEY words for console. I try my best. But if i am starting from a fresh install and run magic as the first thing i do then it should work should'nt it, it has on the many occassions i've done this before. It takes along time to go naff and i'm getting fed up with it. I'm not wasting minutes, i'm wasting days.
Sure i can go to a different distro but i'd rather not.
And i expect stuff to work cos it allways has[/quote]

What bug dude. And why is it all going tits up on the same box that magic has allways worked on before. I know you must have a busy schedule but surely you have the time to say more than

You're not going to get anything fixed with that sort of attitude. SHaLLaX puts a lot of time in to get you a working Linux distribution. Try actually putting some thought and investigation into solving the problem. And, you'll probably want to take nobspangle's advice. magic is not the only step to keeping your box up to date. Try emerge -u world and etc-update.

My attitude comes from wasting a good 50 or 60 hours dude. And i did'nt mean to offend or say anything out place. It's a thing called stress.

Oh, you dont think anyone else ever gets stressed either, not even me while I'm trying to compile 3 different distros at the same time. It's called self control.
