3 Questions: Logout, Colours, BIOS

Post by stickthemepark »

Hi I have 3 things to ask regarding gentoox.

First, After booting up GentooX my controller freezes and im unable to logout and leave the GUI mode, is there a way around this to logout threw ssh?

Second, Is everyones version also in Black and White like mine? I live in NorthAmerica and I think I may have changed the settings wrong since the I think Shallax is from UK and we may have a differant settings things like PAL or something.

Third, regarding this post I made on xbox-scene http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=263887.
Could anyone further help me with that then them?

If you just want to logout, back to the console you can do
killall gdm

If you want to shutdown just type
halt

Sounds like you have set your box to PAL, it should be on NTSC (Never twice the same colour) run xbvset and choose one of the NTSC options

There is a tutorial in the tutorials section on flashing your bios using raincoat

Oh yeah I get this when I try to killall gdm

Xbox root # killall gdm
gdm: no process killed

also I dont need the halt command I like the reboot command best =) Unless that will get me out of gui when my xbox controller freezes.

Maybe you don't have gdm installed (the login screen, you won't if you've not run magic)
in that case
killall X
will suffice
