Installing a native GentooX on a formatted drive

you may get magic errors on kernel upgrades as magic will try to deposit your kernel in e:\ which of course doesn't exist on your box

Yep, that did happen, but i just copied the /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage file to its rightful location and bingo.
However for some reason with magic 'make modules_install' didnt work, I had to do this manually. Also, the sound doesnt work anymore, but I am still investigating the case.

sound is always broken after a kernel upgrade, magic should fix it you may need to run magic fix alsa && magic

That did it, thanks.

Just curious, is it normal that magic doesnt upgrade the kernel to 2.4.26?
