bochs and VNC

bochs seems to complain when I try to start it when connected by VNC, seeming only to want to run on the main X session/screen (not sure of the technical term, being a bit of a n00b). 
Can anyone point me towards how to make bochs behave itself on X session 1 so I can VNC in to my XBOX and run bochs on the larger (and easier-to-read) screen that results, please? I've had a look at the home page for bochs and there are no clues that I can see...but I might be looking in the wrong place.
