Im getting a popup after I login as gentoo or root that is very large and says Session menu then in a box from what I can see is SessionListWidget and then the only option which I can choose is Default/Fail Safe. The last thing I did was tell it to go into KDE then closed XBVSet before it was done
. Any ideas?

When I try to do anything my screen goes black or goes back to the log in screen. How do I run the commands?

the password is displayed so nothing gets typed after you do su
Depending on the settings you may not be able to log in as root over ssh, but you will always be able to log in as gentoox then su -
