Installing flashplayer

Post by halfcircle »

I have downloaded flash player through the konqueror browser and uncompressed it with ark. I then went to the directory i had uncompressed it too and ran the command /flashplayer-installer as per the instructions.

Now the red light led on my xbox is flashing... does that mean that it is installing?

If not, how do i do it.

Red light I think is high system load so if it stays on for a long time your box may have crashed.

Make sure you are running mozilla-firefox not firebird as firebird is very bad at installing plugins.

You could try emerge netscape-flash but I'm not sure if it will work.

Well.... I am using KFCE and the links at the bottom are labelled:

Mozilla web browser
Mozilla Thunderbird

I tried emaerge mozilla and it seemed to emerge ok - it took 3 hours though, but when i click the link I still get the standard error about child processes etc.

I also tried:
emerge mozilla firefox
emerge firefox

all to no avail.

How do i get these working?

As a newbie I have been reading a lot and searching these forums but I seem to be getting conflicting information.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

right click on the link and change the command to firefox (for mozilla firefox) or mozilla (for mozilla)
