Non root user accessing /mnt/fatx/f ?? possible?

This must a be a daft question, but how do I let a normal user have access to /mnt/fatx/f ??

The normal user cant look in this mnt

i know if you put "sudo " before the program you want to load it will have access to F drive

Hi, thanks for the response :)

sudo still gives root access though, and I don't the application to run with any root privs

Cant change the owner of the mount, or mount with the 'user' option ... they make no differance.

you can set up an automount on the drive and change the permissoins in fstab.. wait , maybe my brain hurts , i'll get back with you --Bikr

Tried masking with mount, but no joy with that either ......

Any ideas? :roll:

ShaLLaX is this possible? just thought you may of tried it?

Damn! :? Thanks for the update though.

ShALLaX you mentioned the new version of pro could be installed on 'f' taking control of all the space with reiser file system.

Would this mean we could use all of the space as a user on the f drive?

Yep, the whole F drive becomes a linux partition :)

Thats what I need, can I do it without a reinstall? and with ext3 rather than reiser? (I've had some bad experiences with reiser in the past)

I don't have the means to experiment , however , the new pro includes the new fatx drivers , this may now be a reality.. Perhaps shallax has more insight to this than me.. as I do not have an xbox with an F drive.. --Bikr

By new drivers i meant the same drivers that are available in the home edition :P

Is the mechanism (maybe magic) available to take the complete f drive for linux, without having to install from the new pro cd?

I don't have the home version at all.

No, you cant use magic to do this.... only the install CDs can.
