sparkle question

Post by immo »

i've burned sparkle on a cd-rw (reason see my other thread). its booting on my xbox, but it seems like there is nothing happening after the blue bootscreen, last line is "Booting Sparkle"

is that right? it appears not, since usually linux booting should be displayed, right?

i've burned the cd unraring the iso file, using qwix to make an xiso and burning using blindwrite

edit:
nevermind, seems like one of the filename (isolinux.boot) was truncated to 3 character extension by winrar when unpacking the iso.

edit2:
hmm still doesnt work. help? maybe instructions how to properly put sparkle.iso on a cdrw

edit3:
after second try just burning the normal iso it worked... maybe my disc isn't best quality :-/ so its working and running now.

I love posts like this... just shows that users dont go through every possibility before posting ;)

Did sparkle work? (i.e. did it fix the problem you had?)

well its more like "do i have to really reinvent the wheel?".

i've tried, it didn't work, so i thought lets ask, maybe its a known problem. thats the whole purpose of this right? knowledge exchange.

but back to the topic :-)

sprakle worked, but it didn't fix the problem i had (needed stardust and manually fixed it).

Yep, another brainfart... I was checking to see if /dev/hda2 existed by checking to see if its a regular file... which it isnt! Gimme a while to fix+upload!

Thanks for the update ... :)

I'll download and give the new version a try.

edit:

Well, it booted and found the partitions, and then completed the checking.

Sadly, on a reboot, it hasn't fixed the problem, and the xbox won't boot.

Sparkle is a good idea, it would also be nice to have it as an option from evox perhaps, so we don't need the sparkle disk all of the time.

But the best solution is EXT3!

gentoox is turning into a great distro, so keep up the good work

Time for a reinstall .................
