No Network problem - ShaLLaX GentooX 1.4rc3 Pro Edition

Post by leonov »

Just installed the most recent version of the 'pro' edition, via the network (FTPing the contents of the .rar file, via EvoX, using WSFtp).

I ran the .xbe from EvoX, and it all looks great -- framebuffer, little tux, startup 'noise'... Problem is that it seems to timeout while bring up eth0. The 'bringing up Eth0' message sits there for about 20 seconds, then I get a 'Network not availiable' error message.

Thanks for any help...

You dont have DHCP, try setting it manually using the network tutorial.

The tutorial is fine -- if you have KDE, and the onscreen keyboard installed... Not so good if you are at the console with only a game controller in your hand ;)

The reason I went for the pro download was to avoid all that extra downloading, as I want to use the XBox Linux non-interactivly. I want to SSH in to emerge the packages I needed.

I guess the only thing I can do is set up a DHCP server temporarily, so I can access the XBox and change /etc/conf.d/net...

Cheers!

No hay problema...

Having DHCP as the default 'net setup is perfectly understandable.

Thanks for putting together GentooX btw!

*Fixed* - added static fallback in home 2.1, but also for all other versions in magic.
