Blank Screen after "Starting X....."

I have finshed installing and went through the video setup and system rebooted, I starting gentoox again and it loaded all the components then

Starting X.......

Blank screen, followed by some checkers, blank screen, followed by Startup music( I presume) and then a blank screen.

I tried xbvset again and still no luck

ssh into the xbox as root and type xbvset and hit enter then type the correct resolution and what not , just follow the prompts , it's best to copy and paste the lines you want rather than trying to type match it.. --Bikr

another way is to press ctrl+alt+backspace ... this will kill x ... u them login and do what u like, also try startingx again (startx) sometimes works second time

If you use XFCE and have this problem, type

startxfce4

not startx. Sometimes, it makes a difference.
