I can't set my time zone grr...

Post by lateralus »

I have ntp running but the problem is that my timezone is way off. It's like 6 hrs ahead. I have no idea how to switch it. I tried syncing with the three north american servers but idk what the deal is.

I AM IN THE NORTH AMERICAN CENTRAL TIME ZONE!!!

for those of you who might need to know, state of Wisconsin.

can you please tell me what command to run to get my clock in the central time zone?

thanks, lateralus

Look at the post right below yours regarding the time issues. I talk about time zone there. Basically you have to removed /etc/localtime and create a softlink in it's place that points to the proper time zone file in /usr/share. For me (on the west coast) it's America/Vancouver. For you, you'll have to look through /usr/share/zoneinfo/America for the city that's in your time zone. Madison's not in there, so you'll have to pick another city in the same timezone as you (not familiar enough with US geography =)
