Someone on these forums I thought I saw before had just made a vga cable that was hooked up directly to the motherboard (bypassing the SCART jack).

I'd like to do the same thing and wondering if you or anybody else has any info on it. Thanks a bunch.

Here is some information from the xbox-linux site for a couple of way of doing it:
http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xbox_VGA_HOWTO

I am in the middle of doing it using what could be a better method just waiting for the right circumstances at the moment to get it finished!

cryptic, but ok :)

yea I've looked there, but I can't make the cable. The scart adapter, when the case part is removed, all the pins are covered in hot glue, how do you get that stuff off?

That is why I would rather just solder the vga wires directly to the xbox motherboard and just remove that scart jack all together. would be a lot easier i think.

You should be able to just solder to the underneath of the xbox connector on the main board to pick up your signals:

For the RGB signals
AVIP Pin 19 to VGA Pin 1 (red)
AVIP Pin 22 to VGA Pin 2 (green)
AVIP Pin 18 to VGA Pin 3 (blue)
AVIP Pin 17 to VGA Pin 6 (red ground)
AVIP Pin 20 to VGA Pin 7 (green ground)
AVIP Pin 16 to VGA Pin 8 (blue ground)

To select the VGA mode on the video IC
AVIP Pin 9 to AVIP Pin 10 (Mode select, Bit 0)
AVIP Pin 13 to AVIP Pin 14 (Mode select, Bit 2)

Then hook up the LM1881 as per the diagram!
