Problem with menus in xfce home v.6

Hi
Just installed a new fresh home ver. 6 and there seems to be problem with launching xmms and terminal from xfce. Whenever I try to launch one of them from either the icon in the menubar or from the right click menu, the xbox seems to chew a little and then nothing happens. If I launch xmms from .xinitrc - before the startxfce4 cmd, it works fine. Any idea whats wrong?
