New Kernel installation broke gentoox

Post by drerock »

I ran magic to install the new kernel version. The xbox turned off when it finished like it's suppose to. I rebooted and it turned off again. So far, everything's fine. When I booted the third time, it did exactly the same thing it did for the second step--it was on for a few seconds and turned off--. I Can't get past the second reboot. Can anyone help?

This is EXACTLY what happened to me, and it's apparent that it can happen. Not sure why yet at this point.

the second time the system boots it is supposed to apply the patches for sound and network and so on. If your kernel install failed you should have a vmlinuz2 file on your e drive you just need to rename this back to vmlinuz and then run magic fix kernel-2.4.22 && magic
If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?
