This is because (correct me if I’m wrong), they run from a loopback file like a big iso file 'rootfs', that has a fixed file size. But if you do a native install this involves extracting the files out so the size of the install will vary, Laymen’s terms
Go fully native, it's the destiny of all Mk1 Xboxes

Thanks. Unfotunately, it seems to demand a 4.5GB partition no matter what when installing, so my hope of having it on the free F: space of a 10GB drive is smashed. Guess I'll look into formatting the entire thing as EXT2/3 and having a 10GB native install. Apparently that's not terribly difficult to do.
UNLESS...I guess it'd be okay if I could put a few apps on F: and the 4.5GB linux loopback on E:. Can the cromwell loader boot that sort of install if I were to put it on one chip bank, and THE BLESSED DEFAULT MS BIOS on the other bank to boot THE ONE AND ONLY MS DASH, COURTESY OF SUPREME COMMANDER GATES?
