Hi relative new commer to gentoox, but know my way around;)
Was just wonderin if theres a list of nice apps, or you know of some sites that do? Or if possible, would ppl reply to this with there fav apps n such n give a discription:) That would kick ass!

Perl has got to be my favorite, unless of course you count bash as an app. :)

There's a few hundred thousand, if not more, apps out there. If you let us know what you want to do then someone here could help.

Im not really thinkin of just myself here;) Like a list of ppls favs, to give the rest of us new commers something to look forward to maybe?

Apps - Epplets, Entice, Eterm (for E)

Something like that? I'd go more in detail, but I'm too high right now;)

Email - Thunderbird
File manager - Gentoo or (Tux Commander, not in portage)
term - aterm
bittorrent - azureus
irc - x-chat
server stuff - samba, mod_php (apache, php), mysql, dhcp, proftpd, ssh, (jabber), ntp, webmin
firewall - iptables

thats all i can think of now :D
that is waht i use / would use (if i decided to have gui on it (but its a router/server))

XOOPS isnt an emerge, but is easily installed and is EXTREMLEY good. It includes:

MySQL
Apache
proFTPd
webalizer
full PHP support
phpMyAdmin

and more all in a SINGLE Download. Its at sf.net and is easilly installable.

Try it out, im a newbi and i had it installed in 20 minutes reading a tut!
