HDTV Settings, I got my overscan problem fixed.

Talk about anything related to Gentoox or Gentoo.

I also do not have an XF86Config file (only the example). I do however have a xorg.conf file which has a Sectio "Monitor" and the 480p mode that can be set to match the fbset parameters.
I commented out the old section in case I broke something but here are the changes made to xorg.conf
# Mode "hdtv-480p"
# DotClock 27.028
# HTimings 704 746 810 858
# VTimings 480 489 496 525
# Flags "-hsync" "-vsync"
# EndMode

Mode "hdtv-480p"
DotClock 27.027
HTimings 640 694 758 858
VTimings 440 473 480 525
Flags "-Hsync" "-Vsync"
EndMode

I did this on my 1.6 Xbox and it did not correct the overscan. I thought I read somewhere that the 1.6's can be fixed in HDTV. Does anyone know if the 1.6 overscan can be fixed yet? Should I keep trying to change the fbset or should I just give up?

Um, did you alredy run xbvset and choose 480p? That did it for me, but then again, I'm on a computer monitor not a real HDTV.

My bad, shld have google it first. It's pico. For the benefit of those who doesnt know,

pico XF86Config

scroll down till the mode line. Now I get lesser overscan on my left side. will try to tweak more for my right screen.

Is it possible to do a close to 800x600 screen?

yes, I did run xbvset and chose 480p, that is why the 480p mode is getting choosen in my xorg.conf file.
Thanks for the help though. I think I will just keep messing with the fbset values and try to get it right.

I'm a big linux noob so I don't know how to "translate" this for the fbset command...
Can anyone with these setting run "fbset -i" and report what is given??? I don't have xf86config but the newer xorg.conf file
