Quick question if anyone could answer.

Ok, I have a v1.4 box and trying to install linux only on a HD. I am sure you know the problems I am having (screen problems).

I have not been able to SSH into it to run magic.

My question is could I put this hard drive in a v1.1 box load it up from there and do all the updates. Then swap back to the v1.4, would that take care of my problems????

you could do that or if it is easier, install gentoox on the 1.1 box run the updates then copy the rootfs, swap, vmlinuz, initrd.gz, and linuxboot.cfg files over to the 1.4 box and stick the new xromwell/cromwell on and you'll be all sorted.
