Rip quality settings

I searched just about everywhere for a way to change the quality settings for encoding audio and dvd's.

For example instead of 256K for audio, what if I wanted to encode mp3's at 160k? The same with video encoding to xvid...

If anyone can help it would be great. I'm not an expert with dist. of linux, but I know enough to make my way around.

You cant... you have either "medium" or "Highest" i think (for DVDs).

Im sure you can change music somewhere *Shrugs*. Try reading the friendtech mce manual, or mythtv manual.
