Depends on what you are programming. Utilities for linux can be programmed in different launguages than, say the kernel.

Dude, you sure are having alot of problems, I'd suggest reading some of the tutorials and reinstalling, you may have botched the install.

I ran magic and when Iwent through the steps to set video (composite..etc) my screen is all distorted now. What type of Internet connection do you have, it sounds like the connection is timing out, or you have DNS issues, but the host entry should have been a workaround for that.
