Re: 200GB Support
I followed the cheesyboofs guide by the rule http://forums.shallax.com/viewtopic.php?t=3092 and got a 200gb hard drive working... Everything fine (well except for the classic emerge sync problem that made me put xebian on it) Did you abandon GentooX?? I've tried to suggest this workaround/f...

I haven't noticed this before, but the distro isn't from back in 2003 :-) And also - as this is just a distribution of gentoo the kernel and software is updated all the time. Note that only the 2.4 kernel is supported as for now (there are rebels running the system on a 2.6 kernel too..! 8) ) Steina...

Read up on gentoo and emerge - Gentoo uses emerge packages to install apps.

Yes, yes yes and yes.. Gentoox installs as files to e:\ where you can start it from your dashboard (ie. evox). It does not format your drives, you can run xbmc. If you want to there is also a way to install gentoox natively - where you format your drives and loose all normal xbox game-function...

It's not abnormal to use up to 30 sec. to open firefox.. Keep in mind the Xbox has 64Mb of ram - no matter how much it frees up, it will never be enough. Compared to other 733Mhz systems it's not really slow.. And yes - you are correct - the disk is very very slow. installing native would speed thin...

This should probably be in another thread - Blighty.. First off .. you've partitioned the drive with fdisk /dev/hdb ?? have you formatted the partition with reiserfs ??` # mkreiserfs /dev/hdb1 then.. As the computer may only have one root - try mounting your second drive as a volume in ie /mnt # mkd...

The Native guide is very good - but i suggest a couple of additions.. 1) adding timezone before checking date (to get magic to work) xbox etc # cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Oslo /etc/localtime xbox etc # some users may adjust their clocks to localtime - while the system still expect to be GMT - whi...

PAM screwed me over?
Well.. I'm knee deep in something.. After rebooting my xbox I was suddenly unable to login as root either on the console or through SSH.. I was able to log in as other users.. I AM able to login to webmin - so there isn't a password issue (or anything like that).. This is what webmin said (tha...

After fiddeling around with MRTG for a while - I'm pretty satisfied with the result - however... (there's always a catch) I also use my xbox as a open-dp500 server (simple java app streaming music/video/pics to my Kiss 558 HDD recorder) - so now - every 5 minutes any videos I watch on the Kiss playe...
