Now:

Uptime 474 days 3 hours 55 minutes

This little machine will soon have its eternal sleep...getting worried it might catch a fire or something :p

This box has had uptimes of around 100, 200 and 400 days before. Soon it has served me for 3 years :)

If you want to play games on your Xbox, play Xbox games. Don't try to run a game designed for a PC with lots of memory, on a 64 MB console running Linux with Windows emulator.
You can run a CS server on Gentoox though, with decent performance.

Sounds like hardware or driver problems to me. I've used Skype on both Windows and Gentoo (not on Xbox though) for a long time and I find the sound quality to be excellent with minimum delay.
However, whatever works for you - use it!

I have ventrilo server running on my xbox. Its an older version though, from the time it still was free - 2.1.x.
However, skype is far better for normal 1on1 chat. Ventrilo is mostly used for gaming and many users.

To elaborate a bit more, the message "Value too large for defined data type" could come from either apache itself OR a program used by apache. If it is that apache can't deal with files larger than 4GB at all, then you will have to find out if apache can be recompiled or patched to deal wi...

I think you'll encounter all kinds of problems with applications handling files > 4 GB on a 32-bit machine.
Can you not split the file (for example with RAR)?

If the filename isn't too long then the file is probably too large.

Re: What is development environment of a Gentoox coder?

I've been programmer for what I consider to be almost forever but still I didn't do any work on linux or XBOX yet. So I've downloaded the quite impressive Gentoox Pro 2.0a edition. And ... where do I start?? I am not the most familiar with Linux still. What do you want to do?? What are the IDE or s...

I think your points are fully valid. IMO there should be a --help option and a man page for all *nix commands which are expected to be used frequently. There is a man page in section 4 for another "magic" - true, but there are other sections available. I understand Shallax does things his ...

clpalmer: try another mirror. The mirror I use (which is close to me) has 4.4.0.

In /etc/make.conf there is a quoted whitespace-separated list:

Xbox server stability / Gentoox testimonial

I have to say I'm quite amazed how stable the Xbox/Gentoox combo is. As of today, the box has been running for 380 days ( and counting... ). I've had two power outtages, the first after ~100 days and the second after ~200 days. No other problems. The version is "pro" and it runs on a headl...
