USB Hard Disk Drive

I have read several posts on this forum about installing a USB Hard Disk drive. The posts seem to contain conflicting instructions. I have tried some of this with Home 3.0c and can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone know how to get a removeable USB hard disk drive mounted successfully in Home 3.0...

Which BIOS to Flash?

I have gentoox Home 3.0c all installed and working on my xbox. I am currently booting it through EvolutionX (EvoX). I want to flash my BIOS so that gentoox boots up automatically. Do I need to flash the Cromwell BIOS or the Xcromwell BIOS to accomplish this? If I normally run gentoox in the 640x480 ...

After running "magic newfs"

I wanted more space in linux so I ran "magic newfs" and created a new 4 gigabyte fs file on my f drive. That seems to have have worked OK. The question now is how do I make use of the extra space? For example, if I upload a file to my xbox do I need to do something special to send it to th...

File Size Limits

I have the standard 3 megabyte rootfs with about 1.2 megabytes free in it. I also have an f partition on my xbox drive with over 100 gigabytes free. Using the ProFTPD package pre installed in Home 3.0c, I want to upload a 3 gigabyte file to my xbox server using gentoox linux. This large a file won't...

How much space remains in roots?

Is there a way to see how much space I have unused and remaining in the stock 3 megabyte roots? I wonder if I am getting close to the limit and if I need to resize it or create another partition on the F drive.

I would like to know the answer to that also. I have searched the net and can't find anything on this. Does this mean it can't be done? Seems odd if that's the case.

Camsource is a webcam program that can do a lot of things. I use it to grab a new image every 15 seconds and write that image to a jpeg file on the xbox hard drive. Apache2 is then used with my web page to serve the image. It all works great, if camsource is started manually from root after gentoox ...

Once gentoox boots up I simply login as "root" and then type "camsource" from the # prompt. Camsource then starts up just fine with no errors. When I add the same "camsource" to the local.start file and let the system boot it gives me an error (file not found I seem to ...

Autostart application at boot time

JustKickNits, I followed your instructions and got the following: 1) I added pwc to /etc/modules.autoload.d .There were two files in that directory, one for kernel 2.4 and one for kernel 2.5. Everything was already commented out in both files. I added pwc as the only uncommented out entry in both th...
