Re: Install using new larger HD on fresh XBOX?

One piece of advice though, flash a bios first that will boot an unlocked HD, like EVOX M8+, then unlock the HD with something like ConfigMagic. You'll thank yourself if you ever need to recover an xbox with a dead HD, as you can read the eeprom with a serial cable, and extract the HD key, then lock...

Re: How to use a keyboard while installing

If you know your xbox's IP address you should be able to ssh in and edit files (try user root / password xbox) with nano or something. I don't actually have an active gentooX install to try this on, so i don't know if the config files are in exactly the same place, but you can get the gdm login mana...

Does anyone know of a UK 128mb upgrade service?

O.K I promise this is my last GentooX n00b question for now ;) As GentooX is a U.K. based , does anyone know of a place / person where i could send one (or two, one with bricked tsop to salvage the four ram chips, v. difficult on SMT i suppose) <1.5 mobo off to to be upgraded to 128mb? I've done ple...

(Semi)Native install with Custom Partition Table?

I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to get the Linux kernel to recognize an extra partition or two beyond hda56? If i could convince it that the unused space indeed contained a bootable filesystem this would convince to get a very large HD for my xbox. The reason is, if i was ever to find a PATA >...

Re: Getting GLX working?

Well 3d on nvidia GPU's is only supported on x86 linux thru the Nvidia binary drivers. And needless to say, they don't support the Xbox's NV22 GPU. I did read talk of someone patching an older version of them that works with 2.4 to recognize the GPU's PCI ID's, though that was a long time ago, and i...

Re: Noob Questions.

360 is PPC anyway, not x86, so good luck finding software that'll run under WINE that's from this millenium :P

FATX 32k clusters still a problem?

I know this probably gets asked all the time (i haven't tried on the new Jan release kernel), does the FATX corruption problem still occur on partitions with 32k clusters (in my case a large G / hda56)? It would be nice to be able to use extract-xiso on this partition to reduce ftp activity ;) Plus ...

Root ReiserFS image in sub directory of FATX? (Multiboot)

Is there a way of moving the Pro / Home images to seperate subfolders? Or specifying the filename of the rootfs somehow? For instance I can keep the kernel and InitRD in a folder by editing linuxboot.cfg (which i suppose GentooX/Official Cromwell demands to be in the root of E - If this could be pat...

Re: emerge portage failure

I did this by emerging bash and portage one version increment at a time...eventually i had the right version of bash to get the new portage, and magic was happy....

Was all unnecesary as you have found out as we now have a new release :) Hope ShallaX carries on the good work :)
