Re: GentooX Pro
Hmm. Think I misunderstood what you meant by that last question. What do you mean by "Isn't there a command configure the xserver automatically?". If you mean for video modes and such, then xbvset is your man. Otherwise, you'll have to clarify.

Re: GentooX Pro
It's just like any other pc. If you install more memory, cromwell will pick it up on it's own and you're good to go. Nothing to do but solder the chips on.

Re: GentooX Pro
Emerge is the SW package management system for Gentoo. It's going through all the SW packages and installing the latest versions. Gentoo supports as much RAM as you care to throw at it, as does pretty much any linux distro. However, the XBOX only has room for 128MB on the board, and if it's a 1.6, y...

Seriously, dude. Please don't go trolling through threads resurrecting posts that are months/years old. If it hasn't been replied to in a couple weeks or a month, consider it dead...

Re: Fun uses for your xbox
I used to use it as a firewall/NAT box that ran my web/ftp/samba/etc, but it's a bit underpowered and I wanted to get mythtv going so I got a new server and now I run both xboxes as mythtv/xbmc frontends.

Re: Gentoox and XBMC xbox issues (2 xbox's total)
I'm at a loss =/ Can't say I've ever seen that kind of problem. Have you tried changing the cache sizes of the streams in XBMC and see if that helps. Still shouldn't can your connection, but maybe it'd do as a workaround =/

Re: Gentoox and XBMC xbox issues (2 xbox's total)
I used to run the same setup and had no problems with it. I recently changed the server to a beefier one, as I wanted to do PVR stuff and the XBox could only seem to download from newsgroups at ~400-500kB/s but my cable connection gets more like 1.2-1.3MB/s on the new server. In any case, I ran XBMC...

Re: Problem using magic
"which magic"
The which command will show you what file would be executed if you typed that command. To be honest, I don't run gentoox any more, as the XBox's didn't meet my needs for a server any more and are just front ends now, or I'd look it up for you.

Re: Problem using magic
Troll through the magic script and find the line that's failing and attempt to execute it directly. If it fails (maybe it's not just connecting to the server, but grabbing a particular file or something) then you can narrow it down a bit.

Re: noob login question
What address did you try to connect to with putty? The same one that shows on the screen on bootup? Have you made sure to put yourself in the same subnet as that address? ie. If your local network at home is 192.168.1.1 and the machine reports being 192.168.0.1, you can't just directly connect. You'...

Autologin to forums busted
Is it just me or does auto-login not work any more? Seems after ShALLaX went to the new version of phpBB it sort of worked for awhile but now it seems to have completely stopped and I have to log in every time I visit the site. And yes, I am checking the "log me in automatically" box =)

Re: Burning .iso file, booting Gentoox
I thought the .iso burned as a fatx file system, meaning you shouldn't be able to read the disk afterwards with your windows box. Maybe this has changed, but if not, then maybe there's an issue with the way it's being burnt for you. Are you burning the iso as an image using disc-at-once (or if that ...
