Not an expert in these situations, but you might need a modchip to get out of it. If you have your HDD keys backed up somewhere, you might be able to recreate your HDD and relock it using your PC or something. Not sure though. You can probably find more help on X-S.

It's a known issue and it shouldn't be the case. In earlier releases, the copy worked fine. For some reason with the latest release(s), there's an issue that causes crashes during copy. There's several other threads about it.

To give you a slightly more helpful reply, mancubus: If you don't reflash your bios, you'll always have to keep executing some kind of exploit to allow it to boot into linux (such as the mechinstaller one you've already done). That's the hard part of things. What you need to do now is reflash your b...

Shut down almost everything you can (ie. go on a killfest) before running the memtest app. That way you'll free up as much ram as possible. Especially things like apache or xwindows.

I was reinstalling natively and when i gave the command to copy all files from rootfs to hda2 it started copying and after a couple seconds.... This is a known issue and nothing to do with your HDD. After crashing during copying, did you wipe clean the partially copied parts and recopy everything (...

It's a standard x86 with standard ram interface. You can google linux ram test and probably find apps to test with. I imagine you'll have to run them from within linux, though, not at boot time, as I'm not sure you have enough control over the bootloader. That just means that it might not accurately...

Is there a custom driver for the eject button or is it tied into the DVD drive itself? If there is one, then as cheesy said, couldn't it be hacked to eject on a quick press, but gracefully shut down on a long press?

Did you have any issues installing via FTP? The newer installs have been crashing when copying from rootfs to the new file system. Did you have it hang at all during copying? If so, and you didn't properly redo the copy, then it could just be an incomplete install and hanging because of that.

Are you looking at a console window or through SSH? There's a known issue with copying over the rootfs when doing a manual install. Something buggy I think with the FATX drivers in the newest releases. During copying, it'll crash, but you'll only see the dump on the actual screen, not via SSH. If th...

Ahh, I've seen the "it failed" message many times. All you have to do is apply the "fix", overlay it with the "patch" and compile the "solution" and you'll have a working system again. Seriously though... asking for a solution without posting the details of yo...

What he just gave you is about as easy as it gets =) glftpd is a very powerful ftpd, but has a ton of features that you won't use, and are more geared to the warez scene (quotas, scripting, nukes, etc). Basically just make your xinet.d/glftpd file look like his below. Add the line he shows to /etc/s...

That doesn't really answer his question. He's not looking for samba/webmin, he's looking for how to autostart mediatomb and azureus. I'm not familiar with either app, but you can likely just add them to /etc/conf.d/local.start and they will automatically be started on bootup. If there's any graceful...
