Gaim comes pre-installed with Home, there should be an option for it in the XFCE taskbar at the bottom, but if not, you should be able to open a terminal, type

Code: Select all

gaim
And Gaim should load up.

They're also on the xbox-linux.org cvs (under Shallax's i2c stuff I believe), if you know how to browse CVS servers and download source from them, you can get them from there.

only thing I can think of is that the linuxboot.cfg is missing. Make sure it's there and that the file isn't blank.

I think there are some apps that will let you define the F and G partition sizes, allowing you to have a G drive on a HDD less than 137GB. Go to xbox-scene and ask about xbpartitioner (I think that's the name of the program, don't know cuz I never used it) and they should be able to give you more in...

Well the problem is with gentoox loader and xromwell, not with gentoox or xdsl itself, so the kernel won't make a difference. I believe Gentoox loader is based off xromwell, which is why it also has the same video problem. I also have a 1.0 and I for some reason, get no overscan, although I'm using ...

Go to te MS Dash Uncheck all forms of HDTV - Set 480p to no / 720 P to no and 1080i. Once you do that, reboot your box / Start Linux and you should be good to go. Well yes that works, but most of us would like to keep our HDTV modes enabled, instead of having to disable them whenever we want to run...

Yes you can do this, it's called a TSOP flash. There are tutorials on Xbox-scene on how to do this.

Re: kind of a n00b question

I'm currently trying to install gentoox natively as discussed in another post here, but I've had one big hangup. How do I extract the contents of the rootfs file? I've tried mounting it in KNOPPIX and copying the files out to a partition, but it always hangs up on the /dev/ directory, or some symli...

Do you have a 1.6? If so, you can't really fix the overscan. I haven't experienced any overscan on my 1.0. I don't know if it makes a difference that I'm on a computer monitor and not a real HDTV, but overscan isn't a problem in my case. I heard that fbset can be used to correct overscan though. So ...

Question about the Gentoox Loader/HDTV issue.

I'm sure most of us have seen one of those posts where someone launches gentoox loader (with at least one of their HD modes enabled) and they get a blank screen, their eject LED turns orange, and the fan starts spinning really fast. After a bit of searching, it seems the best cure for this is to dis...

These kinds of posts don't really belong here....

Basically, it seems to me that you want to download Xbox games and burn them without having to use your PC. Not only is discussing such a topic against the forum rules, but if you did get it working, it would be painfully slow.

Did you set it to run proftpd at boot? If not, then you won't be able to ftp into it unless you do

Code: Select all

rc-update add proftpd default
in the terminal, or you install some other sort of ftp server.

Actually, that varies per your location..... I know in the US, any backup of an Xbox game is illegal because to do so, you'd have to disable the copy protection on the Xbox, which is now illegal because of the DMCA. I'm not sure about the UK and other Asian countries, but I know you can't do it in t...
