Sorry, it was all my fault. I reinstalled Gentoox Home 3.1 and from the beginning I have 1,8 GB free space. I expected more as the rootfs of 3.0 was only 2 GB (what is half the size of the one from 3.1) large and still left me about 1 GB free space. I checked my free space with rightclicking on a fi...

Thank you very much for your reply :) This happened inside the rootfs. I marked the file (using KDE) in Konqueror and typed Shift+Del. I tried running ls -a inside the directory where it was, but there it is not shown anymore. Is there perhaps something else I could try?? Could Azureus be the source...

Incorrect free space

Hello!! I downloaded a file using Azureus (bittorrent) with a size of about 1,3 GB. Everything was fine until I deleted it. The problem is, that somehow the 1,3 GB are still missing. I had 1,6 GB of free space and now after deleting the file not 2,9 GB but still 1,6 GB. The file is definetly gone an...

Gentoox hangs regularly at Bringing eth0 up

Hello!! As said in the topic Gentoox (Home 3.1, F installation) hangs regularly when booting at "Bringing eth0 up". I have to turn the XBox off and the second time it is allways working. It really happens every time that regular. I tried running magic and Sparkle but this did not help. My ...

I just noticed something, after testing Xfce for a while I returned to KDE and choosed 800x600 to see how it looks on my TV. The resolution was too high and everything was very hard or impossible to read. But the problem with the windows not fiting in the screen was gone. Now I wonder is there a sav...

Thank you very much for your reply. I just checked the content of /etc/skel but the files .shutdown and .reboot are not there. I guess that they were made by ShALLaX and he put them in /home/gentoox only. I checked the menue-entries of my newly created user and from root again and the entries System...

Files for Shutdown and Reboot

Hello!! After I created a new user I deleted the user gentoox as I was never going to log into Gentoox by him. However by deleting the home directory I deleted the files to reboot and shutdown the system in KDE. I know how to do this with the commandline but I still would be very happy if someone co...

Problems working in KDE 3.3

Hello!! I just updated to Gentoox Home 3.1 and everything is fine so far. I am just facing some problems when changing settings for example in the control centre. Very often the buttons I have to click "OK" or "Apply" and some more settings on are downward out of the screen. This...

Hello!! Thank you very much for the hint :) I just tried it out and the error is indeed gone. However now I always get another one :( XIO: fatal IO error 0 (Success) on X server ":0.0" after 172 requests (172 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Is there a way to fix this too or does ...

Sometimes hanging at "updating environment"

Hi!! When I am booting Gentoox (Home 3.0, installed on f:, fully updated with magic) about every second try it is hanging when it says "updating environment" on the screen. As it seems there is nothing else I could do I always wait a few seconds and just turn the XBox off and on again. Nor...

Hello!!

I am using an USB-Keyboard. Using the on-screen it would not be that much annoying if the symbols are at another position as they would at least be shown correctly
Thank you very much for the explanation, I will give it a try :)

How to change Keyboardlayout in XFce??

Hello!! I am actually testing the XFce Desktop and as it seems to be really faster on the XBox than the KDE I am thinking about switching to it completely. But cannot find an option here to switch the keyboard to another region. I do not live in an English spoken country and some letters and most sy...
