Biggest problem was all the debug messages i got in dmesg output and in the log files. I got read of the debug optionsin the kernel .config and reinstalled. I STIL...

1.2 - Booting If you have a flashable TSOP or modchip, you can tell the installer to flash it with a modified Cromwell BIOS for Gentoox. This BIOS will make Gentoox autoboot each time the Xbox is turned on (after a 10 second delay or when you press the 'A' button on your Xpad). Gentoox is launched b...

Great, thanks, much appreciatted.
I can only think that i am replacing the wrong file with the nkpatcher.xbe file.
I can confirm that my gentooxx.xbe is in the root of E: (did an ftp install of pro to E: as per the guide).

I tried the nkpatcher as a replacement of my existing file (first loaded xbe file) but no good..just hung on xbox logo screen. I decided to retr...

Trevante...that is fantastic, and very clear.

I`m away from my box at the moment, but I will have a go at this over the weekend..I note remarks re backup and ensuring I have the eeprom.

Fingers crossed..will report back.

Headless webserver (remove unneccesary stuff for perf. gain)

Any tips on what i can remove to "slim down" the Pro version once installed, I know it's pretty slim already...!

Thinking of things like sound and gui stuff?

Well, I got apache working without explicitly putting it in the USE= statement...have I messed up? Do I need it ?

Despite having used gentoo for several years...I have never got to the bottom of this, ie when to explicitly put stuff in...confused.

Ignore me...I answered this myself by copying a file to the xbox.

Seems /dev/loop/0 is the filesystem.

I have 3 gig available....NICE ! :-)

I have this situation also...gentoo running fine from a dash board link (in evox to E:\gentooxx.xbe)...Its a softmodded v1.6.

I want evox to auto load this link...how can i achieve this?

Can I just copy gentooxx.xbe to C: and rename to evoxdash.xbe <-- I don't think so?

USE flags for a headless webserver

What USE flags are suggested for a headless webserver, I'm about to start an emerge frenzy! Have I missed any, or do I need any more?

Code: Select all

Pro / # cat /etc/make.conf | grep USE=
USE="-ipv6 -X -gtk -gtk2 -arts -gnome -kde -qt -cups"
Pro / #
thanks,

Disk Space (FTP Pro install on E: to an unopened v1.6 xbox)

Have just done a FTP Pro install on E: to an unopened v1.6 xbox, and emerge sync && emerge -u world....all went well. I've got gentoo running and i love it. Haven't even had to open the xbox. I can't figure out now if I've got enough diskspace on E: to start emerging stuff....this is confusi...
