doesn't that script suck up a lot of cpu time whizzing around in that while loop? I'm not sure the units on the polling delay, but even as seconds, isn't 10ms fairly short to be looping this on?

Upgrading to kernel 2.6 would be done at your own risk. ShALLaX did add 2.6 as a patch, but there were a couple problems with it (mostly with fatx I believe) and he reverted back to 2.4. If you did upgrade it, you'd have to do it yourself and if you're asking "how do I upgrade it" then I'd...

Here's a chunk of the magic script that runs when you use "uhoh". I've stripped out a lot of the code for post-size sake, but basically it just downloads http://shallax.com:2000/patch-files/uhoh.tbz2 and copies it's contents to various places. You can manually download that file (assuming ...

Just noticed the "buffers/cache" line from free -k. Anyone able to explain a bit on buffers and cached memory? Are these allocated and unavailable for use or is ie. cached memory just cached HD hits and will free as the memory is needed for applications? total used free shared buffers cach...

Not 100% sure, but I think that for the CD install, you'll need the disc to be burned as an x-iso (or whatever an xbox format iso is). Instead of burning the stardust contents as is, take the contents and make an x-iso out of them (can't remember the program that makes em) and burn that. Then try to...

Anyone actually used distcc on the xbox much and compared compile times? Does 2 xboxes half the time, better than half, less than half?

Memory usage

Are there processes that use memory that won't show up in "top" or "ps aux"? I'm trying to figure out what's using so much memory. Here's the output of "top": Tasks: 38 total, 1 running, 37 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 0.3% user, 0.0% system, 0.0% nice, 99.7% i...

Isn't the GPU a GeForce3-ish chip? Should be able to handle much higher than 60Hz.

Nothin like a 10-day compile that makes you want to get 8 or 10 more xboxes and cluster them =)

You can run that kind of resolution on a much less powerful machine with a much worse graphics card than the XBox. As long as you're not trying to play some high end games on it, it'd work fine, but, like ShALLaX said, the drivers just don't support it.

Do you logout before you reboot? I think there's an option to save the session when you logout.
