Im not sure but you might be able to just inject your own password hash into the /etc/passwd file (or is it /etc/shadow)


either way, I would suggest you backup your data then completely reinstall, you can never trust that box after it has been compromised.

And even this site, I suggest surfing the forums and taking a look at the manual for whichever you choose, home or pro

how is internet access on your box, can you connect ok with say, firefox?

maybe a bad download of pro, or even when it was installed, would recommend reinstalling.

But before you go to the trouble, did you emerge X? if not, why install VNC, you dont have a window system to use remotely
