I'll keep that in mind about the kernal update errors being normal. I've never had that happen before with updating. Well, after rebooting a second time (didn't do the magic fix) as when i booted up this morning, everything, net and audio, was all working just fine now. And when i shutdown afterward...

excellent news! Now all i need is someone to try an F: drive installation from CD on a large F drive. Unfortunately, i've tried it a few different times to install from the cd, and no luck. I kept getting an error when it got to the part where it tries to write then it resets itself and boots again...

It's kind of tricky actually. It's not illegal to run linux on it if your using cromwell bios (100%legal), however you need a mod chip (unless using exploit which is almost useless to a newbie in the event something happens and you won't know how to fix it anyway.) which most say are illegal to sell...

Large f-drive and magic f-drive working here.
Ok, i did magic, and sync, then magic f-drive, and waiting about an hour or maybe a little longer and it finished with a reboot. Then the screen turned light blue-ish grey color, and seamed to stop. I waited a good 4 minutes to make sure, and shut the power off, then on and booted up again. After a m...

But i am assuming that it will automatically get bigger though when it has to? I wonder this because it seems the other day i had about 586megs left on my e drive, and today i have only 498 left, and i haven't played any games, or done anything (utility installs, games, emu's,xbmc) the past few days ...

Cool. Thanx Nobspangle! I read in a post about that, because of the bug makes it report an error, but i didn't know the filesize was so big. Wow. Now it's time to try to remove most everything i don't use to get some more space. I'm down to 459 megs already, and haven't really installed much of anyt...

It's cool. I copied the files over and left it alone this time, and it finished at around 3.4gigs for the big huge file. Didn't think it was THAT big, even then, still good enough to burn all the files onto 1 DVD-R, so that's still cool. Thanx again. Shouldn've let it go the 1st time I guess, just d...

How to set access so you can ftp files from pc w/permission?
Certain directories i can't send files over from pc without a Permission Denied message. How can i change permission for full priveledges? I'm not concerns with high security at all, as i am the only user using my xbox, and don't have it running when not using it. Personally i wouldn't have a proble...

How do you install programs when you can't use 'Emerge'
For example, i downloaded a KDE theme (winxp one) and the only versions (emerge won't work here of course) i see to download are the .gz and .rpm versions. I know from trying it out that the .gz version is basically a zipped version, so i unzipped all the files, and tried to install the theme, which...

If i'm not using MCE (would like to, but can't do native install since i have too much stuff and time on my f drive to loose it all.) Gentoox Home already supports the remote then? I couldn't see anything in the remote list (using KDE) about xbox remote. 'lirc 0.6.6 + xbox patches' guess i'll have t...

Wow, got a response from both of my 2 most admired people here. Thanks guys for the help. I've spent about 18 hours over the past 3 days just learning and learning with gentoox/kde/xfce/linux in general. It's not as scary as i thought it was. Much different then windows in ways of course. So what yo...
