My brain is frizzled... I'll try to look at what you posted when I am more lucid... I also just got a new TV and haven't tried gentoox on it yet... :) Perhaps I'll have new problems.... it's a hitachi ultravision 57" digital wide screen so hopefully being a hitachi still it will work but I know...

Nic #1 - the one on the same network as the Xbox. The Xbox won't know how to get to the Nic #2 address because it's on a different network. With the inside (#1) interface of your pc as the default gateway it will then be able to tell packets destined for other IP's (ie. your nic #2 IP) where to go. ...

Redefining Xpad buttons?

:)

hehe.. I guess we all know what I use my gentooxbox for... :)

to be honest with you I just screwed around with things until they worked... (which is my M.O.)... it went something like this.. I used an action replay which I manually inserted the save games onto... I only ended up doing this because my software smashing skills are better then my soldering skills...

oh... i just realized you didn't want to run Evox. Why? Anyway... I can't imagine any reason why you couldn't do it by modding the msdash just like the debian guys have... I suspect you could just take a hex editor to their mod'd dash and link to Xromwell.xbe instead of whatever they are currently l...

Bah.... I'm running Gentoox without any mod chips.... I did the mechinstall/font hack thingy and then switched over to Evox (the dash not the bios) and everything runs great. :)

oh... and if you go the fbset route you need to make a note of all the settings and make sure the system runs fbset with all those settings in the init process.... I sort of hacked it into the /etc/init.d/fbset but it doesn't need to (probably shouldn't) be there.... any comments from the 'smart' on...

The I can't quite get my video right HOWTO.

:) - This is all WAY easier (maybe only possible) if you do everything from an root ssh session from another box while watching your xbox display on the TV/Monitor. I found sitting in the living room with my laptop networked in wireslessly worked well. First - Try going through the modes that xbvset...

Since I can't change anything on the TV what could I play with that wouldn't be 'easy'? :) I'm happy to hack around. What's the scoop with the XF86config files? They don't seem to do what they usually do. Is this stuff hard coded somewhere? Where? I promise once I figure out how to get things workin...

a comment and then off on a tangent about media playing

FYI - I believe this was an issue of a missing trailing / ie. smb://192.168.11.4/storage/music/ would work and smb://192.168.11.4/storage/music woudl not. Not that I would have any basis for knowing this... after all why would anyone run XBMC when they can run Linux! We sho...
