permission denied
Hey guys, I just put the home version of gentoox on my xbox and when I run magic, and it runs emerge --sync I'm getting a permission denied error in some blackdown jdk directory in /opt. As root, I can't go into some directories in there. I thought it may have been a corrupt filesystem, so I uploade...

Mounting WinXP shares
I would like ot know how to mount a WinXP share?
I disabled 'simple file sharring' in windows, so for the other PC's on my network to connect to my PC, they have to have a user account on my PC that matches the same user/pass that they log into their box with.

swat and samba
I installed samba with the tutorial on ShALLaX's page. My problem is that I don't want everyone on the network to have access to the stuff. And when I upload it's only accessable by root. So I try to go into swat and it doesn't work. I do some reading, and I go into /etc/xinetd.d/swat and edit it so...

I've done some looking around and can't find a good resource. Everything is either too in depth or not relivant. My network has 4...

Is that what Debian does??? when It has the 4 different options?? it has 4 different versions of rootfs? Yeah, that would be a bloated download, but if there were 4 different downloadable versions, it'd still be the same bandwith usage....instead of 100 downloads of 1 file, you'd have like 20 downlo...

debian hell
After Shallax quit IRC today several people talked me into gettin rid of gentoo and running debian. That was a mistake. It took me three times to install it because putty for some reason doesn't know the difference between hitting enter and hitting number on the num pad. So my network settings got a...
