I don't really get this at all - Are you using a PPPOE modem?.. Switch to a broadband router that handles the authentication for you. And you skip that hassle all together. Any cheap D-Link would do the trick.. http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=6 But if you REALLY want to, there is support for PPPO...

I don't know Ninan at all - but sure, you could start up linux, run <linux app> then shutdown the linux, run xbmc - but ofcourse not be able to use the <linux app> anymore (until you restart linux) - you get the idea.. - Just as you would if you multibooted a PC with linux/windows. There is nothing ...

Well, none.. Except you might have an old xbox laying around, why not put it to good use?

If you are going to buy the hardware anyway - buy a normal PC..

For the rest of us, it's mostly just because we can..

The USB ports on the xbox is only USB 1.0 - so there is no bandwidth for any tv-grabbing. There have been several projects trying to acheive this, no-one has reported back any positive results.

So.. Until someone makes a USB 2.0 HW-add-on to the XBOX, there is no way.. (won't happen!)

You should have installed the HOME, not the PRO version to get the GUI.. I don't really know how much support you'll get on the unleashX problems here, we're sort of not really pro piracy, you see.. Edit:Also - use putty to ssh into your "headless" xbox (and skip using the controller all together) -...

SO WHAT WOULD YOU DO in this situation? Is there anyway to get a free version of this on Linux? I've heard linux is a lot better then windows when it comes to free software... so why does this guy want me to register?? Open doesn't necesarily mean Free - actually the "free software" term was change...

Why would'nt 1 box do the trick? Are you running Pro? Are you running it in native mode? Do you depend on a lot of pre processing (i.e PHP?). Are you using SQL? I have no problem serving files both on http and ftp with up to 200Kbps (my ISP capacity). Even with MySQL/PHP. And even though you would a...

I've calmed down a bit since this morning  And sort of realised I will upgrade to Pro 4.1 before turning paranoid again.. The xbox has been acting as it should since this "incident" and I can't spot anything else in the logs. I'm behind a firewall, and "someone" accessing my ftp ports (through ...

Hacked? Or just being paranoid..

Hi guys.. I woke up this morning to a noisy xbox.. It was running at 100% cpu.. As i connected to it, it noticed nothing "really bad" happening.. There was a whole bunch of sshd instances - but noone else but me was connected. I checked the syslog - and only thing that has happened is some foo...

I've read through this a couple of times, but I can still not make out what you are trying to achieve.. First off - yes, apache needs to be configured to allow traffic from all (as far as I remember this is default) Until this is configured - only localhost may access files (http) Is your problem th...

I'm on a bit of thin ice here - but are you sure you just couldn't start the program with the nohup option? try doing a nohup <bittorrent thingy> & You'd have to check with ps aux | grep <bittorrent thingy> to see if it's still running - and read the "nohup" file where you started it to see any outp...

That's just what he says - he has a Home install - this is all covered in the manual - you have to add "partitions" - these are 4Gb virtual disks. To get "everything" from your linux install - do a native install - but that way you will not be able to run games/mediacenters and so on..
