The console like text that appears when you first boot up Gentoox is perfectly crisp until Gentoox starts XFCE and then its just a black screen.


ive already tried running xbvset again

(this is after a fresh new kernel)

i forgot the command to change bot options
..just installed gentoox for the first time in 4 months

please list all the files needed to run gentoox. I extracted the ISO (cant burn to disc beause of thompson drive) and got the files but it keeps asking to insert the stardust CD then turns my Xbox off.
Ive done this before using the same procedure.


btw.. im using the latest Home edition of Gentoox

how do i change my ip address for my xbox (LAN)? it changed ot automatically to 192.168.1.100 (which is my pc LAN ip) Everything is screwed now!!! i tried to change it from evox but no cigar

login as root then type:

pico /home/gentoox/.xinitrc

after typing the above you will be in a file. dont mess with the first line...

delete "startkde" and type "startxfce4" (after you "emerge xfce4" obviously)

What command do i put in the .xinitrc (pico /home/gentoox/.xinitrc) file to boot up Gnome onstartup?

if its the first time ur starting up you have to set the resolution... once you do you wont need to again

For some reason when i boot up not my xfce panel (system tray) is empty and when i try to add a item it says "A crash has occured in the panel... meanwhile it will be restarted blah blah blah"
Am i going to have to unmerge xfce then emerge it again or do i simply need to configure something?

yeah do what shallax said... it happened before to me...

btw shallax. can u unban me from #gentoox (i was just playing with colors and i got permanently banned) my ip is 24.195.156.238 if that helps
