HI. As some of you might know, I recently upgraded my gentoox installation. I mostly use my Xbox as a server, so I didn't notice for quite some time that the 'dock', which includes launchers for xmms, mplayer, firefox, etc, no longer actually launches the applications :( The icons have all cha...

I can barely believe it, but it actually <i>worked</i>!!
I had to to get it to work, but:
I had to
Code: Select all
emerge unmerge xfce-base/xfce4-base
Code: Select all
uname -a

Think before speak !! :P I just tried emerge --update xfce4 --pretend These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [blocks B ] xfce-base/xfce4-base (is blocking xfce-base/xfce4-4.2.0) So, at least this makes more sense in relation to magic performing the ma...

OK, so I found that running /etc/init.d/inetd start started inetd, which means that I can now telnet to the Xbox  So then I typed rc-update add inetd default which (I hope!!) means that inetd (and therefore telnetd) start at boot time. (Well, I think that inetd calls telnetd when needed, but I ...
