in case anyone interested, I've got it working with a horrible hack...I've actually put a 2nd psu into the xbox case for my 2nd HDD (it really did come to this). haha...it works a treat though!

hi trevante, maybe you can help me out, again! ....
Here's the latest and greatest, yes checked and rechecked jumpers...the last post on here tells me it's not possible to connect up 2 IDE devices, I'm not sure that's true?

I'm running gentoo now, I flashed my tsop with cromwell and rebuilt with a gentoo livecd - amazingly I hjave survived to tell the tale, I didnt need magic and all that stuff - however I do miss fanctl and xboxtemp etc. Is there any good place I can download these great xbox apps, I can't see them in...

2.4.29-xbox kernel build (problems with fanctl)
I've been tinkering with kernel builds and optimisation and I finally got a 2.4.29 kernel booting last night. It worked but there was a problem with it being slow. When I checked it seemd the fanctl and LED processes had got the CPU at 99%. I figure this is a problem withthe I2C drivers, I have them...

Just a quick follow up Trevante if I may....for my understanding. Now things are great cos I'm booting directly into gentoox (just what I wanted). BUT I've lost my FTP safety net (of course I new this would happen and its ok)...ie used to go BOOT-> DASH (with ftp) -> CLICK CONTROLLER MENU OPTION -> ...

thanks for this good info. Bit scared by the switch installation and physical modding requirements so I think im gonna retreat for now and concentrate on getting the USB option working. I'll keep my box in pristine condition, and i already have the kit. Tsuro - would the limit to 137GB patition size...

im considering doing this...seems like a great idea...i have samba installed so if i put a huge hdd in i can share it over the network...xbox would be perfect for this i think. I got a new softmodded 1.6 and the thing is i dont want to open it! haha...bit of a problem when u want to put a new hdd in...
