Its a sad day but I am officially dropping any support for native installs as I have moved over to a QNAP raid one box that meets all of the needs of the two Xboxes I was running with RAID support. http://www.store2go.net/shop/discountstore/p/category/0708078778-QNAP+TS-209+Pro/ All the best to Shal...

You guy's shouldn't need to do all this messing about! I can only think there is a bug in the latest release of Gentoox or a bug in ext3 on very large hard drives.

I would be curious to know if you are all using ext3 as Reiserfs support had to be dropped because apparently its so flaky? I did a native install on bios 6.7 with pro 4.2 on a ext3 200Gb Disk what are you lot using?

Just done a pro 4.2 install prior to updating the TUT on a 6.7 bios all was fine but I'm not happy with the 6.7 BIOS looks buggy to me (probably not a result of what your seeing) so I asked shallax if he could send me 6.6 so I could see if the problems where there but he told me to copile it myself,...

Oh no reason its just you cant mod 1.0, 1.1 and 1.6's by my preferred method, plus if you open a 1.0 or 1.1 the architecture looks more AT than ATX.
But they all run Gentoox fine.

I mailed Shallax about the loader problem, but he said there is no problem perhaps we need to make a little more noise
I do get an IP from my IPCop firewall but I cant ping/browse to it, and as you say when Genttox/CD comes up all is well with the Network!

DONE! I have removed reiserfs support for now, but will add the work around soon. Also I had intended to go down the netboot method of install but I was having trouble at the loader getting an ip address? anyone else seen this?

I don't think there is any benefit to Gentoox but I've always tried to obtain 1.2 -> 1.5's as these can be modded for 'free' without the need for a chip! http://www.cheesyboofs.co.uk/site/tutorial02.html If you purchase one off eBay say with a broken DVD drive ask the seller for the SN then you can ...

You are correct this has been discussed and resolved the least you could do is read it! You have two options if you wish to run BIOS 6.x 1. Format the storage area to ext3 2. Create a separate ext2 boot partition /boot=ext2, /swp=swap, /storage=ext3 or ReiserFS I will be updating the TUT at some poi...
