USB TV Cards - Which ones work?

I have looked at a few different cards online. Some of them have specs that exceed the XBOX CPU (e.g. 800 mhz required).

I wonder if anyone who has achieved success has comments/ reviews for which video input devices will/ will not work with the XBOX?

Funny thing, I can get mplayer to run from the command line with -vo x11, however, gmplayer will not run. I think I have located the problem. I attempted to emerge dvd::rip (drip) and the emerge failed, leaving a partially complete package. After that the problems started, culminating in my inabilit...

Ran magic - no video visible in Mplayer or Xine (has audio)

After running magic, sync, and install xserver, I cannot watch videos. I can hear the sound, but all that appears in the viewing window is a blue screen. I suspect the problem has something to do with etc-update. I selected -3 and replaced all the config files. If the latter is indeed the problem, i...

Shallax - thanks again for the great product. Also, I am glad to see that you are feeling better. But seriously, dude. You need to lighten up. My post said "did you look at this . . .?" not "this is EXACTLY what you are looking for . . ." Personally I have a USB keyboard that cos...

As a newbie myself, I can't give you an answer, however, you should definitely look at http://www.gentoo.org/ and search through their 'online package database' for software. If the program that you want to install is in their database, you can easily install it via the 'emerge' command in a termina...

Sure, it's easy. You need to edit the XF86Config file. This is a text file. I believe that it is located in /etc/x11/xf86Config, however, you may have to search for it. I have set up xedit in xfce by adding the launcher to my panel. You can use any editor you like, though. 1. In xedit open xf86confi...

Dude - The ONLY way you can use gentoox on a 1.6 box is to add a virtual desktop setting in the XF86Config file. I have a 1.6 box myself, and so far, the only 'solution' has been to add a virtual desktop setting. This will allow you to scroll the whole desktop. As you have probably seen in the manua...

3) Communication is a wonderful thing. I re-read my original post and agree that I could have put things better. My intent was to be constructive, not critical. My apologies. 6) I have to admit, when I fire up my 'box in front of the class and whip out my controller to scroll through the Powe...

1) I read the manuals and the Gentoo website and figured out how to use Virtual Desktop on my own. I did do something productive by making a post on how to use virtual desktop. I am being helpful: this is constructive criticism intended to make Gentoox more useful for the benefit of other users, not...

Virtual desktop

I think you should either include a virtual desktop setting in the xf86config file, or put up a brief note in your manual on how to set it for us noobs. For those of us with 1.6 who are limited to 640x480, Gentoox is useless for most software because the dialog boxes are not accessible, until a virt...

1. use xfce
2. modify your xf86config file (in etc/x11) to include a virtual desktop that is larger than 640x480. Look in the xf86config.example file to see how to do that.

Your best bet for installing software is to use Gentoo's native 'emerge' command. Go here: http://packages.gentoo.org/ to see what software is available. Here is the firefox package: http://packages.gentoo.org/search/?sstring=firefox To install (update) firefox, you would 1. Open a terminal window 2...
