Meh, just setting -X could still make it compile QT.. and all that other crap. I don't think so, so since qt depends on X. Let's take a look: [ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre5-r5 -3dfx -3dnow -3dnowex +X +aalib +alsa (-altivec) +arts +bidi -cdparanoia -debug +directfb +divx4linux +doc -dvb +...

Magic: 1. Ah. I haven't tried the earlier versions of Gentoox, so I wasn't aware that those files would always be there. My bad. Patches: 2. :) 4. Yay! :D 5. Very true that it can easily be disabled with a default /bin/false shell. I also understand that it could be very handy to have for a user who...

Magic: 1. I know that the -r switch 'should' be a non-issue, but to me it's like a gun with the safety switched off. You state that backwards compatibility is important to you, but what if I decided to use a functions.magic directory to house the configuration files of my personal project? I do a ma...

Magic suggestions

Errors/nitpicks I discovered in /bin/magic: 1. The use of the -r switch to the rm command when applied to a single file. 2. Line 421 states downloading magic.md5 failed, when patches.md5 failed. 3. I'd like to see cleanup() moved to /etc/functions.magic so it's not duplicated in the patches file. Er...

If you have gentoolkit installed, you can check where it is via:

Code: Select all

qpkg -l freevo
According to /usr/portage/media-tv/freevo/freevo-1.5.3.ebuild, it's supposed to have been moved to /usr/bin/freevo so the FAQ should probably be updated accordingly.

Thanks for that. Don't worry - I had already considered this risk before attempting a new BIOS anyway. :) I have been looking into a new modchip now, since it appears the one I have can't be reprogrammed very easily or at all. I'll definitely consider a Xenium chip now, so thanks for your advice. It...

Flashing Loader v5.0 killed my Xbox?

I have an Aladdin Advance XT for my Xbox, which I purchased to help me install Gentoo(x). It comes with the EvoX BIOS. My Xbox appears to be either a 1.4 or 1.5 (Focus video), but I have no multimeter to be more accurate. I also installed a new 60Gb HDD, and is configured for the Xbox by having a ba...
