stardust supports reiserfs fine.... as above, in your code, you may need to fully specify the partition - not sure about doing the partitions on a PC and switching it to the xbox, does the xbox use a standard pc location for the partition info? from stardust run fdisk /dev/hda and press 'p' (IIRC) t...

ShALLaX: update an old install or download the new one?

Just wondering if you were going to make a new sourceforge download to go along with the magic updates, so I can scratch out the old install (which would take a couple days to update if I guess right) and just upload the new one to a clean disk instead of putzing around with the ftp back back and fo...

Home 4.0 and the fatx - which part is affected?

Shallax:
Does the fatx bug cause a problem if doing the install from ftp (real slow access to the image even once its in there), or is it just the copy/extract on a fatx partition that is holding things up?

Sourceforge CVS viewer appears to be down ATM Chinny - does that mean that my custom table _was_ changed by fdisk and thats why xbpartition no longer sees the custom table that I origionally wrote, but for whatever reason the dashboards are honoring the reduced F size according to the customized&...

the partition table on the disk contains the custom partition I made, when linux took over the partition I assume it "customized" the partition table to allow for the reiserfs to be located there for the "native" install on the "g" drive (which by the way I technically ...

It appears to be working great, after a few days and some magic updates its still chugging along :) Note: like I mentioned above - there are very few bios that currently support it and booting to any of the others will reset the partition table info.(unfortunately this includes the latest X3 bios, a...

Anyone know a good way to backup a native install?

I have recently made a native install of home 3.2 to my custom partition (the last 10 gigs of my F drive) and am currently doing the magic update for xorg. It has taken about 7hrs to update and I was wondering if anyone knows a somewhat simple way for me to back this up (once the update is complete)...

ssh is quite simple, especially if you know what the IP that will be assigned to your xbox will be once it boots. (my router always give the xbox mac address the same IP so I always know) I use the Putty ssh client for windows, all I had to do was enter the IP into it, click ok when it wanted to cre...

Native install on last 10GB of F drive SUCCESS! (I think)

Heres what I did to give linux a native install on a (about) 10 gig space of its own with an 80GB Hard Drive and a couple of other handy tools (including my X3) Backup drive F - JUST IN CASE, as mine got formatted I assume I missed something important 1. burned the Gentoox Home 3.2 Cd 2. Modified Ev...

I have finally decided to try to "shrink" my partition with xbpartition (see info farther back in thread to see a link to info on this tool). Here is some handy info I found about on disk partition table support: from Team executer forum Supported BIOS's Current BIOS's which can read the p...

Oy, I dont want to "partition" f, I want to make F smaller and add in a G drive. It makes sense to me because the bios addresses the partitions by blocks, so if the block count were customized so the xbox knows there is a G drive (including where it starts, which would be just after the en...

I would definitely be interested in doing a native install, but my disk (using default partitions) does not have any G drive. I think it would be interesting to take the last 10gigs of the "f" partition (however big it may be) and make that the area for the reiserfs and swap as "G&quo...
