Apart from the fact that ebay are complete bastards in this respect. I speak from a small amount of first-hand experience, of trying to sell an Xbox-Linux xbox, that was TSOP flashed, with the cromwell bios. Despite putting "THIS XBOX DOES NOT CONTAIN A MODCHIP, AND CAN PLAY NO GAMES, COPIED OR...

Do GentooX fstabs normally have an entry for /dev/pts?

If so, is yours correct? If you manged that entry, you could well run into this problem.

Well, specifically it is a kernel oops, but it's hard to be more specific than that. I have seen odd problems like this before, but as usual, they are hard to reproduce and track down. What does line 532 of /sbin/rc start? It appears it is whatever is started there caused the kernel to oops, which i...

If this is a 1.6 xbox, you better get used to it, as there is presently no fix, nor any immediate prospect of one being developed.

you can confirm what it is by running:

dmesg | grep xbox

If you see a line saying 'Xcalibur', then you're out of luck.

As I said, the only difference between the US xbox and the PAL xbox is the eeprom setting. The MS bios CHOOSES to disable HDTV output if the xbox is set to PAL mode. However, Linux will happily display HDTV output regardless of what the PAL/NTSC setting is. The bootloader does not 'set' anything, it...

Theoretically yes. I added support for this, but nobody seems to be able to give me a 100% straight answer as to whether it actually works, noting that I don't have a drive of those proportions with FATX on to test myself. Also, the code you're looking at is old, and long removed. It also wasn't abl...

That 's no longer the case. The lame keyboard keymappings have been replaced in Xbox-Linux's CVS, so we now have a proper LIRC driver, which talks to lirc. I would imagine GentooX has picked up these patches a while back, though it is not inconceivable that it is still using the old keyboard event d...

X2VGA

The limitation on the X2VGA is purely done in the MS bios/kernel. Linux can output HDTV modes via an X2VGA converter, whether it is a PAL or NTSC xbox. There is no need to 'switch' the eeprom to one mode or the other. Just plug it in, and follow the normal GentooX menus to select X2VGA as the output...

Nah

The linux kernel reinits the video, regardless of what bios you are using. Don't forget the MS bios isn't just a bios, it's an operating system kernel, and xbox programs generally run under it. Linux doesn't - whichever you boot from, linux trashes it and takes over. If linux cannot do vga support f...
