Re: 128 support without Cromwell in future?

I dont know why Crommwell is needed can anyone explain, I genuinly want to know. Then I can ask more questions :D :) :D :) Like will it ever be possible to run Gentoox 3c at 128mb with an Xecuter bios? Please, I cant be switching between them all the time. I've even got the chips ready to go in but...

3.0c - Can't install natively on stock 10Gb HDD

For some reason I can't use the native install option on Gentoox Home 3.0c - I have burned stardust.iso to a CD-RW and after having formatted the filesystem it gives me the following error message : "Can't install on F - must be at least 3.5Gb in size" followed by an immediate system halt....

Another nice alternative is oxine (which is based on Xine instead of mplayer). Couldn't get it to autostart DVDs on the old 2.4.20 kernel, but I'm sure there are no problems with the new 2.4.22 kernel (which has also fixed CD playback which didn't work at all before or crashed after a few minutes of...

aMSN preinstalled would be pretty nice. I hate MS' protocol as much as the next guy, but it's quite popular and aMSN is supposedly one of the few clients who can still connect to the MSN network. I agree, a Bittorrent client preinstalled would be very nice. Nice to see that Thunderbird and Firebird ...

You don't have to use the Cromwell BIOS for it - take a look at Xromwell which is an XBE that is designed to boot Gentoox even with a hacked BIOS such as the Xecuter2 ones. As long as you leave all the necessary bootup files on the E drive, you should be able to boot Gentoox by running the XBE. Idea...

Thanks again, I think I can manage that - I'll give it a try and let you know if it works.. I've got plenty of HDDs lying around here and the necessary tools to get it back to work when it's screwed so if one breaks it's no big deal. I knew it wasn't as simple as just editing a single file - I was j...

Thanks ShAllax for the info. Would you mind if you could give me some indication of which files I need to edit (Just the files that need to be edited, the trial-and-error stuff will be done at my expense)? I've looked at the Home 2.1 Integrated RAR and the only thing that looks like an installer scr...

Native install on E?

I'd like to install Gentoox on a stock HDD using the 'native' filesystem but unfortunately stock HDDs only have about 2Gb of space on partition 6 (F), while the E drive is about 5Gb of space. My intention is to only use this harddrive to run Gentoox - no game or DVD playing whatsoever. The readme me...

Talking of which - from what I've read so far 128MB support in Gentoox only seems to work when you're using the Cromwell BIOS. What I would like to know is if the Cromwell BIOS can be converted to Bootable From Media (BFM)? I tried with XBTool but it gave me an error saying 'kernel extraction faile...

Fate of KDE?

Finally caught the XFCE bug, eh ShAllax? As for whether to ditch KDE completely - a month ago I would have agreed. However, I can't be the only one who thinks that with the release of Gentoox 2.1, KDE seems a lot faster than it used to be - whether this is because of the USE flags used while ...

thanks for this. I tried using the PAL example and just got a series of errors regarding the parameters (sorry I haven't saved them). Are you sure this line is correct: ./xbv ADPT_FFILT 0 F_SELY 3 the ADPT_FFITL part? I can see ADPT_FF in your tutorial but the ILT part got me stumped. Sorry if I'm ...

What happened to the Xpad tutorial?

I seem to remember there was an Xpad tutorial on the older site that told you how to make the Xpad controller behave like a joystick instead of a mouse. I would like to switch this back, however I looked at the tutorial section and I couldn't find the Xpad tutorial. Has this been put into another se...

lol.. xpde is junk, tried it :P Hehehe... yeah I tried it once (an earlier version mind - 0.3.0 if I remember correctly) but it's a shame that most interface functions still don't work - like the titlebar for instance - so it won't be much good as a default window environment at this stage. Not to ...
