I think this can be done with an app called the Enigmah Video Mode Select CD. You'll have to go through the usual scum pits to get it, but it should run ok and let you access the hdtv modes on a PAL xbox.

Thanks a lot, I'll get that all sorted tonight. I was close, just didn't have the fatx partition mounted before the reiser one. Not the smartest thing I've ever done this

Hey, just a quick one. I've managed to massacre a couple of files (updating etc files, I said it would never happen to me...) but I've got them backed up, and a working ssh connection through the debian live cd. Anyways, I think I just need to put something in the fstab and then mount up the gentoox...

Just a small thing, to put in the next release maybe, but if you're trying to emerge something requiring alsa it tries to re-emerge it. And alsa wants you to get the kernel source and left me more than slightly worried until I worked out what it was up to
