It looks like magic was created mostly because Shallax couldnt contribute xbox stuff to portage. My guess is that it would not have been the way to go for him had he been allowed to use portage to add xbox-specific stuff. I blame the gentoo team for that. Indeed ShaLLaX has done some great work .. and its not good that he's dumped while doing his exams, but my feelings are that using magic may be easier for some, its damn frustrating for me. Not wanting openmosix and installing my own kernel is possible, but then running magic means all your individu...

I've recreated the initrd but still no joy ... so could do with some ideas

ps Using todays cvs for 2.6 kernel at xbox-linux & gentoox pro.
edit: New cromwell version did the trick! oh, and removed the initrd

4x, wow! Is dma supported? can only think that magnitude speed reduction, is if dma is disabled .... reiser is not really that much faster than ext3 ....ShALLaX wrote:I tried messing around with various settings only to find that it slowed the filesystem down by about 4x.... also it was proned to locking up.
