Hello!! I need to open /etc/init.d/gdm with an editor to make a few changes in it. However no matter which editor I try, the content is always messed up or not displayed at all. This might effect other programs as well, for example I use rox as my filemanager and there the fonts became bigger with this as well

Since updating to Xorg I have the problem that Firefox and Thunderbird (and perhaps more/all programms) are not able anymore to display japanese characters.
What can I do/try to fix this problem??
